Mission San Miguel will celebrate its 211th birthday on September 21st, 2008 with its annual Fiesta.

For the eighth year, North County Christians will meet each evening from *January 18th to 25th for a Week of Prayer together. Each evening prayer service will last approximately one hour, followed by a short reception. This is a worldwide observance

Mission San Miguel will begin its Christmas celebration with an Early Mission Era tradition "Las Posadas".

There will be a rare opportunity for the public to attend and sing-along when Musicologist and New World Baroque Orchestra Director John Warren presents Handel’s Messiah and other traditional Christmas Carols backed up by a thirty-six piece full orchestra on Sunday, December 2nd at 3P.M. at the Community Church of Atascadero. Tickets are: adults:$ 20.; Children 12 and under $10.
This always a very festive and anticipated Holiday event.---the previous two years have been standing room only concerts. This year to accommodate more people there will also be an “open to the public” dress rehearsal performance for half price on Friday, November 30th at 7 P.M. Tickets adults: $10.; Children 12 and under $5.

The Busy Bees of Mission San Miguel announce that they’ll be having their Annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Faire earlier this year on Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd and 4th in the renovated and retro-fit- improved Mission Classroom 8 A.M. – 4 P.M. both days. All proceeds will go towards the restoration of the Mission.

The Getty Foundation in Los Angeles has approved a grant to the California Missions Foundation in the amount of $75,000 for initial restoration and conservation studies of the historic church building at Mission San Miguel Arcángel.

Mission San Miguel will celebrate its 210th birthday on September 16th, 2007 with its annual Fiesta.

Newly installed Bishop Richard Garcia will make his first official Pastoral Visit to Old Mission San Miguel on the weekend of July 21 and 22. On Sunday, July 22, at 10 am, he will preside at the groundbreaking for the San Miguel Mission Community Center,

On December 22nd, 2003 the San Simeon earthquake hit Mission San Miguel closing the 200-year-old National Landmark to the public. Three years later and after several million dollars of earthquake repair and retrofitting, a historic part of the old Mission Convento, presently a museum, is now ready to reopen to the public. On December 22nd, at 11:15:56 – the same date and time of the of the earthquake three years ago, the Mission Museum doors will open and once again welcome visitors

For one afternoon only, October 22nd at 2 p.m.,Ensemble Teatro Massimo di Palermo, comes to Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa in San Luis Obispo, California for a gala performance of contemporary Italian Classical music to benefit Mission San Miguel’s Restoration. The teatro Massimo is Sicily’s most famous opera house –and the second largest in Europe.

Sunday, October 22, 2006 will bring an exciting event to the Rios-Caledonia Adobe in San Miguel. “SPANISH DAY AT THE OLD ADOBE”, from 11 AM until 4 PM, will feature many colorful and interesting events.

Reviving old tradition, Mission San Miguel will kick-off its 209th Fiesta celebration under a full moon, Saturday evening, September 9th at 7:00P.M., with its third annual benefit concert, hosted by Judge and Mrs. William Clark and family, at their beautiful private chapel, Chapel Hill, in Shandon.

The Tournament is being held at the beautiful Paso Robles Golf Club on Labor Day weekend: Saturday, September 2nd 2006. The Tournament will be a 4-person team scramble format with a 9A.M. Shotgun Start. The Barbecue and Raffle will begin after the golf tournament at approximately 2 P.M.

On June 15, 2006, Mission San Miguel officially received its plaque designating Mission San Miguel a National Historic Landmark from National Parks Service Regional Director Jon Jarvis.

WASHINGTON - Acting Secretary of the Interior P. Lynn Scarlett today announced the designation of Mission San Miguel Archangel, located in San Miguel, California, as a National Historic Landmark.

Good news! Mission San Miguel was unanimously approved as a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Services National Historic Landmark Program.

On Sunday, December 18th, Georgiann Caudle on behalf of the group, presented John Fowler, program manager of the Mission Restoration Project, the efforts of this years work, a check for $9,000.

A group of community boosters headed by Don LaVallee and Dale Schwartz, is organizing the second annual “Friends of the Mission Golf Tournament”. Last year’s tournament raised over $32,000.00 for the Mission San Miguel Preservation Fund. This year they hope to do even better!

The Mission San Miguel Community has sadly lost two long time members this week, our former parish secretary Barbra Regusci (March 8th, 2005) and our beloved Fr. Fulgenzio (Chris) Tomatis (March 13th, 2005).

The Mission complex, including the Gift Shop and Museum, is closed to the public following the Dec. 22, 2003 earthquake. We hope to open a temporary Gift Shop, with Mission information, early in 2005.

TWG Construction of Torrance, California has completed a critical stage of the stabilization-restoration of the historic church of Mission San Miguel with the installation of emergency shoring at critical points in the earthquake damaged structure

On Memorial Weekend, Sunday May 30th, 7P.M.-9:00P.M. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 820 Creston Road, Paso Robles, ten churches are coming together again to offer both moral and financial support for the old church of Mission San Miguel, with a Free Will Music Festival.

On Friday, Feburary 13th, the New World Baroque Orchestra under the direction of John Warren, has been invited to perform at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa for the Annual Conference of the California Mission Studies Association. The opening ceremony for this annual weekend event will begin at 7:00 P.M. in the Mission church and will include an informance by Dr. Craig Russell, reflecting the history of the music of the early California Missions, followed by the musical program.

On February 13th, at 7:00pm, The New World Baroque Orchestra will present a historic musical progam at Mission San Luis Obispo to benefit the Mission San Miguel Preservation and Earthquake Retrofit Fund.

Great News! On January 15th Old Mission San Miguel reopened its Parish Office, Gift shop, and Museum to the public.

In the interest of public safety the church and adjacent structures at San Miguel Mission remain closed.

Casa San Miguel has graciously granted the Mission Parish the use of its facilities for Mission Mass Services.

After a lengthy inspection and consultation with our engineer and others, a decision has been made in the interest of public safety, to keep the church, front courtyard and cemetery of San Miguel Mission closed for the time being.
